While visiting Greenville, we went to Vidant Medical Center (soon to be named ECU Health), where we were able to interview Alexyss Joyner, a Speech Pathologist and PT.
While visiting Greenville, we went to Vidant Medical Center (soon to be named ECU Health), where we were able to interview Alexyss Joyner — who is an Acute Care Speech Pathologist. Importantly, Vidant serves 33 different counties in North Carolina, roughly ⅓ of the population of the state. As such, Vidant serves as a poignant symbol of health care access for Eastern Carolina.
During our discussion, Alexyss shared about her work in helping people learn and relearn skills and abilities. Through this, Alexyss emphasized the importance of recognizing diversity in ableness and ability.
Additionally, we were reminded by Alexyss about the power and role of religious and spiritual diversity in the United States.
